Find Your Perfect Diamond

At Caledonia and Rose, Every Diamond is of an Exceptional Quality and Exceeds the Customers Expectations Every Time.

To help you understand how we meticulously source your perfect stone.

Here's an overview of the 4Cs- Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat Weight-how they influence the brilliance and value of your diamond and, most importantly, what NOT to compromise on.

Diamond Cut: The Heart of Brilliance And The Architecture of Light

The art of diamond cutting has evolved from ancient tradition to precise science. Whether it’s a classic round brilliant or a romantic heart shape, each cut is designed to unlock a diamond’s full light performance. Shapes like emerald, pear, and marquise each offer their own aesthetic, while custom or branded cuts add a signature flair.

The term "cut" refers to how well a diamond's facets interact with light, not its shape. A well-cut diamond exhibits exceptional brilliance, fire, and scintillation. The GIA grading system for round brilliant diamonds ranges from Excellent to Poor, assessing aspects like brightness, fire, scintillation, symmetry, and polish. At Caledonia Rose, I exclusively source diamonds with Excellent or Very Good cut grades to ensure maximum sparkle and visual appeal, dependent on the diamond shape, design, and price point of our customer.

At Caledonia and Rose, we work with skilled artisans who understand that a diamond’s magic lies not just in what’s visible, but in how it moves with light.

Diamond Colour: The Subtle Spectrum & Purity in Every Shade

Diamond colour measures the absence of colour in a diamond, with the GIA scale ranging from D (colourless) to Z (non-fancy light yellow or brown). Colourless diamonds (D-F) are rare and highly valued, while near-colourless diamonds (G-J) offer a balance between quality and value. For most bespoke pieces, again de pendent on diamond shape, design, and price point. I select diamonds in the D-J range, ensuring they appear bright and white to the naked eye.

Diamond Clarity: Nature's Signature & The Diamond’s Whisper

Clarity refers to the presence of internal or external imperfections, known as inclusions and blemishes. The GIA clarity scale ranges from Flawless (FL) to Included (I1, I2, I3). At Caledonia Rose, I prioritise diamonds graded VS1/2 or higher, ensuring they are eye-clean and exhibit optimal brilliance. This selection process guarantees that the diamonds used in your bespoke jewellery are of exceptional quality.

Diamond Carat Weight: Size and Proportion & The Art of Balance

Carat weight measures a diamond's size, with one carat equaling 0.2 grams. While larger diamonds are often more expensive, the overall appearance is also influenced by cut, colour, and clarity. At Caledonia Rose, I focus on achieving the best visual balance, selecting diamonds that offer the most brilliance and beauty within your desired carat weight.

Why GIA Certification Matters & Confidence, Secured

Each diamond used in our bespoke pieces comes with a GIA Certificate, providing an unbiased, expert assessment of its 4Cs. Not all diamonds are created in nature. Today, lab-grown diamonds are chemically identical to their natural counterparts, created using advanced technology that mimics the Earth’s process. Then there are stimulants, stones like cubic zirconia or moissanite, which resemble diamonds in appearance but differ in composition- even white sapphires are used to mimic a diamond.

This certification ensures transparency and confidence in your investment, as GIA is renowned for its rigorous grading standards and impartial evaluations. For many, diamonds represent love, commitment, and forever. But their true power lies in their story to earth, time, craftsmanship, and individuality. No two are alike, just as no two love stories are the same.

Whether you’re marking a milestone, crafting a custom engagement ring, or simply celebrating yourself, a diamond from Caledonia and Rose is more than a gem- it’s a living legacy.

At Caledonia and Rose, we believe in transparency. We carefully source our diamonds GIA certified, so you know exactly what you're getting: enduring quality with a clear conscience.
